ACTIVATE: Stirring What God Has Placed In YOU!

ACTIVATE  means to bring something into motion that already exists or to cause something to start working. From a spiritual sense it is making potential real through action and faith that is coupled with obedience. It is actual the shift from potential to participation that actively supports walking in alignment with God.

Scientifically, when activation occurs the brain moves from protective hesitation into purposeful action. The central nervous system is designed to keep us safe. When fear dominates, the brain prioritizes familiarity and control. It reduces risk and resists change. Over time, this protective response can quietly become a pattern of avoidance, even when the threat is no longer present but it can still wreak havoc on our central nervous system.

Spiritually, scripture reflects this same reality. God consistently calls people who already carry what they need. Moses had the staff before the sea parted. Esther had access before courage rose. Timothy had the gift before he was instructed to stir it. Second Timothy 1:6 reveals the gift was growing and not missing. Many people are cautious so fear screams. Most often its not saying that a person isn’t qualified. Most often it’s just sounding louder than faith.

Years of disappointment, rejection, delay, or unmet expectations can train both the mind and spirit to remain passive. What once protected the heart may now be limiting growth. Psychology confirms that repeated avoidance strengthens fear-based neural pathways. Scripture confirms that fear, when left unchallenged, leads to hiding. In Matthew 25:25, the servant buries the talents because fear convinced him that inactivity was safer than obedience.

There are several key things to place in your heart about ACTIVATION as you walk into this year:

  1. Activation invites honesty. It requires acknowledging what we have used as cover. Titles. Roles. Trauma. Even spiritual language can become a shield if it keeps us from obedience. Second Timothy 1:6 urges us to stir what already exists. That instruction assumes something has gone still. Not absent. Simply unattended.
  2. Activation requires discernment. There is a difference between waiting and hiding. Waiting involves trust and attentiveness. Hiding involves control and self-preservation. Isaiah 60:1 calls us to arise not because conditions are ideal, but because light is already present. Activation does not eliminate risk. It acknowledges that God’s instruction carries authority even when the outcome feels uncertain.
  3. Action reshapes belief. Both science and Scripture agree on this principle. When a person steps forward in alignment, even imperfectly, confidence follows movement. Faith is strengthened through obedience, not contemplation alone. James 2:17 reminds us that faith was never designed to remain internal. It must be expressed to mature.

There is another layer of resistance that often goes unnamed. The fear of succeeding. Growth brings visibility. Responsibility increases. Excuses disappear. Some hide behind over-preparation and perfectionism. Others behind busyness. Some behind humility that is actually fear of being seen. In Genesis 3, Adam hides because awareness exposed him. God’s question, “Where are you?” God was asking for engagement. Because God is omniscient, the question is relational, not geographical. God was inviting Adam to locate himself internally. What we see is that Adam was not far from God in space. He was distant and fearful in his trust with God.

Activation will always begins when we are ready to be honest with specific clarity.
Ask yourself these questions:

What have I delayed because it threatens my sense of control?
What have I labeled as patience that is actually avoidance?
What am I protecting that God is asking me to release?

Romans 12:2 reminds us that transformation begins with renewed thinking. Many people ask God for change while remaining loyal to familiar patterns. Yet Philippians 2:13 assures us that God supplies both the desire and the ability to act. Activation is cooperative. God initiates. We respond.

When readiness meets obedience, activation begins.
